Dad thought he’d lost as did everyone else except Don who adjudged a bowl out was required. John hit – dad missed. Mat Haigh was given a reprieve and played Chris Kirkby but lost. Paul Newton beat Danny Martin and David Bolt defeated Nas Saudager.

In the semi’s – David Bolt scored 11 against John Neal who did well in reply but was unfortunate to be run out by a direct hit for 5. Paul Newton made it an Ashes Final by beating Chris Kirkby.

The Final played over 3 overs with the batsman now loosing 5 runs if out saw David Bolt score a fine 40 with the help of some wide bowling from Paul Newton. In reply though Paul batted like Adam Gilchrist on a good day and won with a ball to spare and the played a lovely forward defensive to secure the shield.
